Forge Philosophy 5-29-08

“Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek.”

Mario Andretti

Yesterday, the Forge completed the following: 1200m run, followed by 50 wallballs, 50 double-unders, 50 sdhp (65), and 50 pushups. I came in at 13:35.

I’ve posted the quote above for 2 reasons: 1) it’s timely 2) I wanted to stress the importance of persistence in the pursuit of goals. This month marks the one year anniversary of my entry into indy crossfit. I shamed my friend John into joining me, and we’ve been suffering together ever since. I think the pictures tell the story of what pure commitment can bring you.

And I’d like to thank John for joining me on this joyously painful journey of fitness.

    Vince & John,

Congrats on your 1 year at Indy Crossfit and you both Rock!!! Vince, thanks again for introducing me to Indy Crossfit and to you Jeff for your continued support. The workouts are always hard and the comraderie here is something you just don’t find a lot of places. I am excited to get back in and to a regular schedule.

Came in at 17:00 flat. Did 200 single jump rope reps. I need to get back to work on double unders.

Pictures are worth a thousand words…

Great job you two. Keep up the good work.

BTW, Vince, did you see the “Butterfly Kip” video on CF.com on Saturday? If not check it out. Definitely a good way to boost your pull-up rep cycle rate.

Boy have you two bulked up! Lookin’ good guys. Thanks for continuing to push and motivate me.

    Vince,

I still remember wanting to throw up as I pulled up to the gym wondering what Jeff had in store for us.

Jeff never let up and I hated him more than once.

I now look forward to it, and hate when I miss a day.

Year number two is looking even better.

    Thanks for the Kool Aid.

Makes me a little misty eyed, seeing you boys all growed up…

Rock on! John, if you haven’t thrown up yet, I don’t know what to tell you. I wish we had a running track of that. That would be the 1 event I come up first in! You guys look great. You are both great motivators, also. Keep it up and don’t make Jeff cry. It really tarnishes his tough guy image!
