Forge Philosophy 2-18-08

While knowing that we will die someday, we think that all the others will die before us and that we will be the last to go. Death seems a long way off. Is this not shallow thinking? It is worthless and is only a joke within a dream….Insofar as death is always at one’s door, one should make sufficient effort and act quickly.

Hagakure: The Book of the Samurai

Today, we did as many rounds as possible in 15 minutes of 15 push jerks (95) and 30 squats. I suffered through 8 rds.

The return of Bayan….

Finished 7 1/2 rds as the clock hit zero. Good stuff Vince. I already fear the birthday workout on Friday.

  2. The Joe says:

2/18 – Did Rounds in 20 of 9 Box Jumps, 6 Thrusters (95#), 3 HSPU. 16 rounds + 9 Box Jumps. 5 rounds first 5 min, 4 rounds second, 3 rounds third, and 4+ on last. Still working on building back endurance. Also, didn’t have enough to eat today…be back soon!

This 2/18 Forge looks like fun, may tackle it tomorrow. Are the squats done with the 95# from the push jerk or do you set the bar down and do bodyweight? Keeping the bar seems like fun!

Yay! Bayan is back. This is good to know. Hey, Bayan, come in and see us in the evenings. No excuses. Dawn

  4. the blacksmith says:

Joe: we did the squats without the weight, but now that I think about it, I like your version better…

    V,
Had some things come up and have missed the forge as of late. Work Weds, Sully and i have been keeping up at the house. Will see you guys on Friday.

  6. Jamie H. says:

Got some new weights this weekend…which I may regret. So, John had me go up to 65 lbs on PushJerk. Finished 7 rounds + 7 Push Jerks. Just ran out of energy to get the bar up anymore.

  7. The Joe says:

I think I may modify it futher then, and do Rounds in 15 of 15 push press (95#) and 15 weighted squats (95#)…never letting the bar hit the ground. I think 30 squats would limit the number of rounds significantly. This way the legs get more breaks…they’ll need them.

I’ll let you know how this goes tonight…
